CONTEMPORARY ABSTRACT PAINTER
ARTIST STATEMENT
On a large white nothing full of promise. It starts and ends as if I were St. Thomas. Scraping, mixing, applying and taping. Before my eyes unknown layers begin shaping. What was white is now in a new condition. Its tints, textures and values show juxtaposition. What it is, I cannot explain, or give reasons. No more than how trees feel during changes in seasons. I can tell you, however doubtful this might seem.It feels like a place I’ve forsaken in a dream. Not knowing where this takes me is what I love most you see. With each one finished I’m a tad bit free. So I continue like that doubting Thomas. On a large white nothing full of promise.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Jacob looks at the world as a series of connections and experiences. He believes that your day to day life is filled with memories of places you’ve been or shapes you’ve encountered and through the process of automatism he emerges or submerges those memories onto the surface of a canvas.
Jacob accumulates that fresh information each day while driving on one of his many routes across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in his Freightliner Cascadia or on one of his many unplanned rides with no particular destination in mind on his Harley Davidson. He not only invites what he sees in the studio while experiencing each ride but also that sense of wonder as well.
